Graphic and Visual Designer

At Mint.com, our marketing department has three enviable jobs: letting the world know about the best-ever personal finance tool; managing an active dialog with our million-plus users; and educating and informing the over 300,000 monthly readers of our award-winning online publication. And we also have the challenge of making personal financial management and information attractive, engaging and compelling: we use design strategically to drive business results. Balancing those roles and challenges well requires great creativity … and often a little magic. We're looking for an amazing Graphic and Visual Designer that can bring both.

Specifically, we're looking for the rare and wonderful talent that can create breath-taking graphic and interaction design in web, email and content mediums that drives intended user behavior.

The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of the marketing mix, from ideation to implementation.  They will be responsible for the visual and interaction design and it's execution on our public websites, email communications, and online publication. This position requires heavy interaction with Marketing managers, Product Designers and Product Management, Engineering and Ops within a fast-paced, start-up environment.

Responsibilities


• Know Mint users and prospects – Apply insights from research, user dialogs and feedback, usability sessions, to develop a visual language which communicates the Mint experience effectively
• Think creatively – Contribute to continual improvement in the information architecture, design, and effectiveness of our public website, email and blog content as an integral part of our marketing team and strategy. Focus on simple and clean experiences. Explore non-conventional approaches to address conventional problems.
• Apply your skills/use your tools – Engage in concept visualizations, wire framing, prototyping and, generally, articulate the user communication designs that will make the Mint.com public site, email communications and blog content intuitive, informative and compelling to use. Author design documents and author visual specs. Deliver and implement creative assets and html.

Requirements


•  Since Mint helps people do more with their money, we’re making it easier for people to achieve their financial goals and get to the life they want… sooner. You’ve gotta love that idea.
• Proven excellence in graphic design to convey brand and achieve business results. Personal portfolio required
• MFA, BA, BS or equivalent background in Graphic or Visual Arts
• 5+ years of web, email and content design / development experience, some freelance is a plus.
• Solid working experience with Adobe Photoshop / Illustrator / Flash / Flex for concept visualization.
• Solid working experience with Google Analytics, Google Web Optimizer and Word Press a plus
• Fluent in standards–compliant web development, Javascript / DOM / DHTML experience preferred. Understanding of CSS and XHTML specifications
